The Best of 2011

Hellooooooo from Michigan! I'm currently chillin' (no seriously, it's really really cold.) in my precious log cabin temporary home for the next 4.5 months- pictures to come soon, sorry. Definitely forgot my memory card at home. Typical things.

I hope everyone had a spectaaaacular Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/etc. and New Year. My entire winter break was as close to perfection as it could have been. It made me realize that the friends I have are some of the best people I've ever met. Not even worried about losing any of them while I'm a thousand/million/whatevah miles away (did anyone else start humming "Hey There Delilah? Just me? Awkward...).

I decided that since I don't really have any intern related things to go over and I don't really feel like rant/raving that I would share my top 11 moments of 2011. This makes me really happy since 11 is my favorite number and I just like reliving great times. 2011 brought a lot of those.

Drum roll pleeeease...
(these are in no particular order, by the way. That would take way too much brain power and I'm pretty positive half of my brain is partially frozen right now. Snow problems.)

11. This isn't exactly one particular memory, but I'm really glad that I started running. It's been such a huge stress relief and got me in solid Spring Break shape. It just makes me feel so happy and I've had some lovely running partners. I guess if I was to name a time it would be my first 5k; simply because it was my first race and it was for a great cause.

DM 5k with some lovely ladies.

10. My 21st Birthday. Not only because it was my 21st, but because everyone that I was close to came to my party and celebrated with me. It was everything I could have asked for and really showed me that people actually like me (I question it sometimes. It's fine.).

9. NOLA! This was my first road trip and it.was.the.best.ever. The bus ride was rough on the way home, but seriously... Bourbon Street, some of my best friends and Gator spirit? I hula hooped. I drank a liiiittle too much, I participated in a dance off. The party never ended. Just perfection.
This sums up a lot of thing. Basically...it says NOLA.
8. Orlando trips with my favorite Brittanys. They were never short of memories...the good, the bad, and the ugly. I locked my keys in the car at Disney, Bwhit and I were a part of the American Idol Experience (okay, we were dancing in the audience...they still totally got us on tape.), some NASCAR technicians fixed my car, I got two flat tires at 3am (worst experience of life.). We laughed. We cried. We ate too much.

7. Chopping my hair off. Mainly because it was one of the biggest risks I've taken in a while (sad, I know. I'm a wimp and I embrace it). I hadn't had short hair since the 5th grade, but I needed a change- and let's be honest, I had a tragic haircut that kind of led to the NEED for a trim- and short hair was that answer. It was a good experience, but the long hair is coming back in 2012.

8. North Carolina Road Trip! Gabby, Kathleen and I took a nice 3 day trip to Gabby's Grandparents cabin in NC. It was the ultimate bonding experience and it was just so relaxing and awesome. We ziplined, whit water rafted, hiked, had real life talks, ate a lot of apple donuts (seriously. best things of life- I don't even like donuts and I was in love), had awkward conversations with her g-parents...it was just a great time. Oh, and we got to experience a magical place called Dwarf House aka A DINE-IN CHICK-FIL-A. Real life.

DWARF HOUSE!
 7. Cinco De Mayo/ Summer pool days. They were not as plentiful as they should have been, but pool days at BClark's pool were the bomb.com. Cinco De Mayo was just a giant joke...plus Bwhit and I were interviewed by the local news. I was wearing a sombrero (but would you expect anything less?)

6. Key West Spring Break 2011. Honestly, there are not enough words to describe how ridiculously wonderful this Spring Break was. We came, we saw, we conquered. Duval Street was not really ready for our takeover. I convinced a homeless woman to steal a bike (who says I'm not a giving person?!), We made fresh fruit cocktails at 11am, We did a Fat Tuesday Bar Crawl (with a point system. Things got weird), I tried Oysters..and other things. Regardless, it was the perrrrfect Spring Break.

Before the Fat Tuesday Bar Crawl. Check out those shirts. Yep.
5. Masterpiece Weddings Internship. This internship, as I've mentioned...a lot...was just superb. It really created a pathway for me to follow in regards to what I want to do for my real-life career. I also gained SO MUCH hands-on experience and was able to show that Event Management is truly my calling (other than professional hula-hooping, but I hear those jobs are hard to come by). Plus I now own some quality little black dresses and am now addicted to Google Reader.

Masterpiece Weddings- obviously a very serious bunch.
4. My going-away party at Mother's (let's be honest, any occasion at Mother's). I may not remember all of it, but it was a perfect ending to my Gainesville life. I have the best friends I could ask for...and now also have a dollar bill stapled to the bar wall that says "MJ. The Woman. The Legend."

3. Halloween 2011/ Any other occasion involving my GHFC family. Halloween was just exceptional this year, not only because I was mildly obsessed with my costumes (cupcake/Ke$ha...naturally I had two. Two parties= two costumes, duh.), but because I spent the Holiday with the most fun/exceptional/crazy-wonderful co-workers ever. I am so lucky to have been able to work at a company that supplied me with some of the best people I've ever met. Halloween was really just a cluster of GHFC love and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

2. Islands of Adventure on 11/11/11. Jacob and I went to Islands of Adventure dressed as tourists (matching shirts, ankle socks and tennis shoes, fanny pack/jacket around the waist. The Full Monty) and had two rules: anytime an actual tourist took a picture, we had to duplicate and we had to snap a pic at all obvious tourist photo stops. It was hilarious and I seriously don't know if I could top that theme-park experience.

A prom picture in front of Jaws. Yes, yes we did.
1. My entire winter break. Usually when I go home for a break I go out with my friends once or twice, watch some movies with Bsoy, and spend the rest of the time watching TV on the couch with my Mom (Mom, there is nothing wrong with that- I enjoy every second of watching Tivo with you, don't worry.). This winter break, however, I decided that I needed to go big or go home (shoutout Johnny Tsunami!) and I definitely did. I reunited with a ton of people I hadn't seen in a while, found out who my best friends really were, did things I had never done before (Mudding, for example. Yep. NPR life.), and simply just had a blast. It was the perfect send off and I loved every second.

Winter Break at it's finest.
I'm sure there are a ton of other great times I didn't mention, but those are the ones that stick out in my mind. I hope 2012 can keep up, because 2011 was a whole lot of wonderful. I can no longer feel my fingertips (we had a blizzard last night. WHAT IS MY LIFE?!), so I am going to end this post with a simple thank you to everyone who made 2011 what it was- you know who you are.

24. My favorite cereals are Honey Bunches of Oats (with almonds), Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms. I will judge you if you have fruit loops or fruity pebbles in your top 3/4...that's just shameful.
